🍇 Grapes: Majority of Grenache, Syrah.
🍷 Color: Ruby with carmine reflections.
👃 Nose: Elegant and fine. In its youth, it shows fresh aromas of red berries and spicy notes. With a few years of aging, candied cherries, warm spices, and undergrowth aromas dominate, evolving into prunes and hints of red pepper.
👄 Palate: Young, the wine is fresh and supple, with notes of currants and green olives. With age, it softens and gains length, with roasted aromas, strawberry jam, blueberries, truffles, and licorice.
🍽️ Pairing: Best served at 17 °C. Enjoy young with grilled ribeye or grilled suckling pig. With age, it pairs perfectly with hare terrine or lamb chops.
⌛ Aging potential: 10 years.
The Grosset Estate’s vineyards are located in Cairanne, at the foot of the old village, on the Echaffins, Blauvac, and Ameillaud terroirs. The vineyard covers 25 ha and features century-old Grenache vines, with gray marl and sandy soils providing freshness and structure, as well as stony clay-sandy terraces for a beautiful aromatic power. The hot and dry Mediterranean climate is ideal for the maturation of Grenache.
The soils are cultivated sustainably, with winter work to limit yields. The harvest is manual, with careful transportation of the grapes. Totally destemmed, the grapes macerate for 3 weeks. The Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Grenache wines are aged in French oak barrels (1/3 new, 1/3 one vintage, 1/3 two vintages). Bottling takes place in March after over a year of aging.
